GuruA Guru plays many roles: that of a guide, a philosopher, a father, and a friend. For all who come to Dharmikam, time spent in the presence of the Guru forms a fundamental and most precious part of their experience.
A true warrior
Guru Balachandran Nair, also known as Satguru Dharamananda Swaroopa Hanuman Das, is one of the few surviving great masters of Kalaripayattu. Hailing from the great warrior Nair family, Guruji has dedicated his life to preserving the martial art.
Training with his masters
Guruji’s long devotion to his masters the late Panniyodu Louis Gurukkal and Moolachal Narayanan Gurukkal has provided him many blessings. Through this devotion, he has gained the knowledge of the Marmas, or vital points, and can heal almost any injury.
As part of his commitment to keeping the tradition of Kalaripayattu alive, Guruji has traveled the world teaching. Wherever he goes he spreads the knowledge and practice of this martial art in order to preserve it for future generations.
Through his intense discipline and training of the mind under the guidance of his late Satguru Swaroopananda, Guruji has reached the stage of ‘Self Realisation.’ Guruji, or Swami, now resides at his ashram retreat in Parasuvaikkaland and provides spiritual leadership, training and treatments to all who come to him.
